The People's Presidency

No parties. No campaigns.
No more divisive options.

The fight over the White House is leaving us bruised and battered

The presidential race between Democrats and Republicans is a race to the bottom. This country is filled with great leaders, but usually only insiders with connections and rich backers can get nominated by one of the two parties.

So every 4 years, we’re stuck choosing between the lesser of two evils. Or, if we actually like one of the candidates, millions of Americans hate that candidate and hate us for liking them. Both sides spend billions of dollars attacking each other and manipulating ordinary citizens. And each Presidential election seems to get more depressing and divisive.

Imagine always having a President we all rally around

Imagine we replace divisive partisan presidential primaries with a Citizen’s Nomination Commission. Similar to the Citizens’ Congress, this Commission is filled with everyday Americans from all parts of the country and all walks of life. And they too are called upon to serve in a democratic lottery.

Imagine we replace divisive partisan presidential primaries with a Citizen’s Nomination Commission. Similar to the Citizens’ Congress, this Commission is filled with everyday Americans from all parts of the country and all walks of life. And they too are called upon to serve in a democratic lottery.

Once selected for the Commission, these citizens meet at the White House to learn about the unique challenges the next President will face at that moment in history. Then, similar to the way in which well-run organizations search for a new chief executive, this Commission identifies the most inspiring leaders from America’s public and private sectors.

After carefully examining each potential President’s character and qualifications, the Commission nominates a handful of individuals who are best suited for the job and who deserve to be considered by the whole country. And once Americans have a chance to learn about each nominee, we all vote to choose our next President. No parties. No campaigns. No more divisive options.

If you're like most Americans,
it sounds pretty damn good

We asked Americans what they think about this proposal – and a majority are on board. In a nationally representative poll conducted by one of the most respected polling companies in the country, 59% of Americans said that a Citizens’ Commission selected by lottery would be a ‘better’ or ‘much better’ to nominate presidential candidates then the partisan primaries we use today. While only 15% said it would be worse.

Moreover, our proposal for the Presidency received the same high level of support from conservatives and liberals alike – meaning it’s something everyone can rally around.

When asked, 59% of Americans feel that a Citizens' Commission selected by lottery would be a better way to nominate presidential candidates than the partisan primaries we use today.

Only 15% think it would be worse.

So here's the plan

The political establishment will fight to keep their grip on power. So we’ll follow the example of successful peaceful movements all over the world: spread the vision, build overwhelming public pressure, and create sustained escalating disruption for the establishment. It takes a monumental effort, but it’s a formula that’s proven to work. And as we know, America at its best is about us working together to achieve the seemingly impossible.

of by for will be organizing the millions of us Americans who are fed up with the political game and want a brighter future. Right now, we’re laying the groundwork for action. Soon we’ll launch our first campaigns to mainstream this vision and build local  hubs of volunteers ready to take action, so sign up to be notified when we’re ready to roll!

This movement is for you if:

  • You’re concerned for the future of the US and the world
  • You’ve had enough of politicians, political parties, and the political game
  • You’re open-minded to working with people who are different from you and willing to go beyond the ‘Left’ and the ‘Right’

We are a movement to end the game of electoral politics and build real democracy.

This means replacing politicians with everyday people from all walks of life. And it means putting them in position to have honest and informed conversations, find common ground, and make wise decisions.
